The Essential Tadoba Jungle Safari Checklist
What to pack for a Tadoba safari — clothing, gear, documents and the small things most first-timers forget.
Clothing
Wear neutral, earth-toned clothing — olive, khaki, brown or grey. Bright colours and white stand out sharply against the forest and can make wildlife wary. Choose comfortable, breathable fabrics with full sleeves to protect against sun and insects, and carry a light jacket for early morning drives, which are genuinely cold between November and February.
Footwear
Sturdy closed shoes. You will spend most of the drive seated, but nature walks and gate areas call for proper footwear rather than sandals.
Safari gear
Binoculars are the single most useful item you can carry — they turn a distant shape into a sighting. Bring a camera with a zoom lens if you have one, plus spare memory cards, spare batteries and a power bank. There are no charging points inside the park.
Personal essentials
Water, snacks, insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat or cap, sunglasses and any personal medication. If you leave from our resort on a safari drive, your complimentary snack basket covers the food.
Documents
Carry the original photo ID that was used to book the safari permit — the forest department checks it at the gate and will refuse entry without it. Keep your permit copy and some cash for guide tips and incidentals.
Before you go
Check current park regulations and luggage restrictions, and confirm your gate timings the evening before. Timings shift seasonally, and the gate does not wait.
